Outreach
and artist Development
Theatre Aquarius respectfully acknowledges that we are located on the territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek, and the Between the Lakes Purchase, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
Theatre Aquarius thriving Outreach, Artist Development, and Education initiatives reach diverse audiences, provide meaningful investment in artists, and share the dream of theatre with a new generation.
Through our Outreach programs we connect with a wide range of diverse students, many from vulnerable communities. Our goals are to address barriers (financial, language, cultural and others) to accessing theatre arts; unlock creativity; and promote a love of the performing arts. Our meaningful programs provide safe, inclusive space to learn and grow.
We engage professional artists from marginalized backgrounds to work directly with community partners and individuals. We also connect marginalized communities with our Mainstage performances.
Our Professional Development programs help foster the careers of the growing community of emerging, mid-career and established artists here in Hamilton and the surrounding region. Our programs evolve to meet the changing needs of our local artists.
