Participants train and gain experience in playwriting, acting, physical theatre, voice, music and dance to work together and create their own play. Led by professional artists, participants gain confidence, practice, creative problem solving, group work and performance skills through theatre exercises and collective creation.

All classes are held at Theatre Aquarius Arts Education Centre at 55 Wentworth St. South Hamilton, ON L8N 2Y5

At the end of the week long session (March 16 at 5pm), participants share their work with friends and family at Theatre Aquarius Studio Theatre.

Welcome your child to the world of theatre in this creative and fun course. Participants gain experience in theatre essentials, including words, movement, character, and storytelling, through theatre exercises, games and performance experiences. Theatre is a wonderful way to introduce your child to group play, while offering tools to nurture and shape creativity and imagination.

Your child will engage in theatre games and exercises to learn theatre fundamentals, including voice and body awareness, character development, and story telling. Acting class allows your child to gain confidence, learn how to work with a team, express and communicate ideas and emotions, while having lots of fun and building theatre and performance skills.

Music Theatre (Ages  7 – 9)

Mondays 4:30 – 6:30

April 2 – June 11, 2018 (please note there are no classes on May 21, 2018)

Cost: $260

Provide your child with music and dance class all in one exciting and fun course! Participants engage in expressive and choreographed dance and voice and singing each class, providing a fast paced, enriched learning experience. Engaging musical theatre songs, participants develop solo and group singing, dance and movement, and acting experience.

Summer 2018 Theatre Camps

Theatre Camp (ages 7 – 9)

9:00am – 3:15pm

Cost $360

Three 2-week sessions:  July 3 – 13  |  July 16 – 27  |  July 30 – August 10, 2018

2 WEEK fun, fast paced, theatre skill building and creativity camp.

Act, sing, dance, create.
Train. Explore. Share.
Gain: confidence, skills, camaraderie, experience and passion for theatre arts.

Each day participants engage in active and creative theatre skills classes, including Acting, Physical Theatre, Dance, Music, Design, Story Weaving and Playwriting. Classes are led by professional artists, actors, playwrights, composers, choreographers. In class, artist instructors encourage participants at their own pace and level.

As an ensemble, participants work together to collectively create a new play. The ensemble can utilize a variety of theatre tools to communicate their work including monologues, scenes, puppetry, physical theatre, song, movement. Each ensemble at each session will create their own unique work.

At the end of the camp, the ensemble presents their work in a performance at Theatre Aquarius’ Studio Theatre.

TRAIN: Young artists develop skills in theatre essentials, including, Acting, Physical Theatre, Voice, Movement, and Musical Theatre, led by professional artists. EXPLORE: Young artists explore their creative potential through theatre creation play, including writing and devising scenes, developing movement, music and songs, shadow puppetry and mask creation. SHARE: Young artists perform and discuss their experience and process with family and friends at an end of camp performance.
