Lola (Dolores)

Alex Castillo is an accomplished Chilean Canadian actress. She began her career as a dancer at the famed Carmen de las Cuevas Flamenco School. After completing her graduate studies at Simon Fraser University in an interdisciplinary MA in the department of Latin American Studies, Alex pursued her acting career full time. In the nearly 30 years since, she has been fortunate to have worked consistently in film and television from Vancouver to Halifax and everywhere in between. She is proud to have been a regular and recurring character on such notable series as HULU’s The Handmaids Tale, AMC’s Orphan Black, Paramount Plus’s Rabbit Hole, and Apple TV’s Five Days at Memorial. She has had the honour of working with incredible award-winning directors including John Ridley, Roland Emmerich, John Madden, Elizabeth Moss, and Bruce McDonald. She has performed with some incredible, multi-award-winning actors like Cherry Jones, Andrew Garfield, Robert Duvall, Jessica Chastain, Don Cheadle, William H. Macy and Joseph Fiennes. Alex received special critical acclaim for her work as series regular Bianca Clemente in LUCKY 7, Steven Spielberg’s ABC remake of the hit BBC series THE SYNDICATE; as well as “Jacqueline (the female pimp)” in Steven Soderbergh’s THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE. Alex has had the privilege of working with Marilo Nuñez on several occasions, in virtually all Mariló’s multi-hyphenate roles as actor, writer, producer, and director. Most recently, she had the honour of reading the role of “Dolores”, in the Tarragon Theatre’s workshop of Marilo’s thrilling new play, FOXY: Tales of an Urban Zorra. Alex lives with her daughter in Toronto.
