Creator/Actor (RAVI)
Ganesh Thava (he/him) is a queer Tamil-Canadian writer, director, and actor. He received his acting training at the George Brown Theatre School in Toronto and the Neighborhood Playhouse Theatre in New York. Thava further refined his writing skills through participation in notable programs, including the Foundry Playwriting Program at Factory Theatre alongside Nina Lee Aquino, the Young Playwright’s Unit at Tarragon, and the Beats + Intentions Playwright’s Unit at Expect Theatre led by Anna Chatterton.
As the founder of Pink Banana Theatre, Thava passionately delves into exploring innovative QTBIPOC narratives, pushing boundaries in both form and delivery. His upcoming play, Koli Kari, revolves around a son’s attempt to remember his mother’s cherished chicken curry recipe and is set to premiere at the 2024 Toronto Fringe Festival. Thava has also showcased his directorial skills in the Primetime Award-winning Toronto Fringe show, My Korean Canadian Friend.
In addition to his theatrical pursuits, Thava has written and directed short films such as The Orchid & The Tree, Bark, and Imposter, all of which have garnered international attention with screenings in the US, India, Indonesia, and South Korea.
