Brave New Works Festival 2025 – Playwrights Wanted

Theatre Aquarius is pleased to announce an open call for submissions for the 2025 Brave New Works Festival, a celebration of fresh voices and bold stories from emerging and established playwrights. We are seeking original, unproduced scripts that push boundaries, inspire conversation, and ignite the imagination.

About the Festival:
The Brave New Works Festival is Theatre Aquarius’ annual new works showcase, dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and championing new Canadian plays. Some selected works will receive dramaturgical support, a professional staged reading, and the opportunity to engage with the artistic community through talkbacks and workshops.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Eligibility: Open to playwrights of all experience levels. We strongly encourage submissions from IBPOC, LGBTQ2IA+, d/Deaf, disabled, and equity-seeking artists.
  • Play Length: One-act or full-length plays. (Minimum 45 minutes)
  • Application Deadline: March 28, 2025
