Playwright
Jesse LaVercombe is a Canadian-American writer and actor who co-created and starred in the Dora-winning theatre production KING GILGAMESH with Ahmed Moneka (featuring Moneka’s five-piece Arabic jazz band), which ran in Minneapolis, Chicago, New York City, Halifax, and twice in Toronto at Soulpepper Theatre. He also wrote on the feature films FLOAT (Lionsgate) and CODE 8: PART II (Netflix).
As an actor, he won the Toronto ACTRA Award and received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for VIOLATION (Sundance, TIFF) and appeared for four seasons on MURDOCH MYSTERIES. Onstage he’s performed at The National Arts Centre, Tarragon, Factory, Necessary Angel, Blyth, The Jungle Theater in Minneapolis, and The Marigny Opera House in New Orleans.
