From Fire and Steel: Indigenous Stories from the Hammer Festival

Join us for an inspiring evening celebrating the voices of emerging Indigenous artists from Hamilton. This year’s festival showcases the work of five incredible mentees—Vienna Johnson, Luke Johns, Kendra Pierroz, Ryan Sero, and Liam Chase—each presenting a powerful excerpt of a new theatrical work developed through the Biindigen program.

Biindigen is a training initiative dedicated to supporting emerging Indigenous artists through hands-on workshops and creative mentorship. This year, the program expanded into two streams—workshop-based training and a focused playwriting mentorship—offering participants the tools to grow their craft and bring their stories to life.

Guided by renowned mentors Yvette Nolan, Carmen Alvis, Philip Geller, and Marcel Stewart, these artists have spent the past months developing bold, personal, and imaginative pieces of theatre.

This event is free to attend, general admission, and no reservations are necessary.
