Playwright/Director
Michael Kras is a Hamilton-based playwright, director, performer, and magic director & designer. He is best known for his Voaden Prize-winning play The Team, which made its world premiere with Essential Collective Theatre and Theatre Aquarius. Other works include No Big Deal (Roseneath Theatre), finsta (Boca del Lupo), and The Year and Two of Us Back Here (Broken Soil Theatre). Michael has multiple plays in development including a how-to guide for the not-yet-viral, a new electro-pop musical co-written with Stephen Ingram as Canada Council Artists in Residence at Theatre Aquarius. As a magic director & designer, his credits include Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Toronto Illusions Associate, Mirvish), The Extinction Therapist (Magic Director, Theatre Aquarius), and A Christmas Carol (Associate Illusion Designer, Florida’s Maltz Jupiter Theatre). Next, he’ll be joining the company for the North American Tour of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, and beyond.
