Nathalie Toriel

Director

Nathalie is an Emmy nominated director and proud mother of two amazing boys. She graduated with a BFA Honors from York University’s Acting Conservatory after getting her DEC from Dawson College in Creative Arts. She has been working professionally on stage, screen, and from many soundbooths, from the age of 7.

Recently, Nathalie has brought her directing talents to live-action television, directing multiple shows including La Petite Mairesse, Amelie et Compagnie, and episodes of Nickelodeon’s award-winning Blues Clues and You seasons 1-5, for which she also became a Creative Producer in its latest season.

Nathalie has voice directed animated shows for 22 years for the largest animation studios in the world, including 6 seasons of the 2019 Emmy and TCA-award-winning Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Emmy-winner Peg Plus Cat, and multi-award winner True and the Rainbow Kingdom. She recently directed Emmy award winning Pinecone and Pony for AppleTV with Dreamworks. She is currently directing 2 new shows for Spin Master with BBC and Treehouse.

As an actor, Nathalie has appeared in lead and recurring roles in over 40 television and film productions and in numerous theatre productions and festivals in Toronto and New York. She has narrated several audiobooks (Penguin Random House, ECW Press). She has performed MoCap and voices for the wildly popular Assassin’s Creed video game series and voiced an array of characters for many animated series over the years. As a puppeteer, Nathalie worked with Clay and Paper Theatre in Toronto and performed with her own shadow puppetry troupe, “Helping Hands” at the Dorothy Ley Hospice and Sick Kids Hospital for children in palliative care.

Nathalie was also selected as an actor in residence for the Women in the Director’s Chair program in Banff.

As an on-set acting coach, Nathalie taught and prepared actors (kids, teens and adults alike) for 15 years on several seasons of 7 televised shows. Nathalie continues to teach Acting and Voice for Animation at the Professional Actor’s Lab in Toronto.
