Nicolas Dostie

Video & Projection Co-Designer

A recipient of the Alfred de Mr. Télévision prize at the end of his studies in Media Arts and Technology, Nicolas Dostie became a director-editor. He then founded his own television production company, collaborating with Fabienne Larouche and Michel Trudeau on special programs for the AETIOS Productions series Fortier, Virginie, and Un homme mort.

With the rise of digital media, he discovered a passion for video projection while working on a multimedia-rich Cavalia, which led to major projects with Cirque du Soleil, including Delirium (2005) and the Michael Jackson world tour (2011). He later brought his expertise to Pixmob for the 2014 Sochi Olympics and has since collaborated extensively with Robert Lepage and Ex Machina on more than fifteen productions, including The Andersen Project, Jeux de Cartes series (Pique and Coeur), 887, Quills, The Magic Flute, Coriolanus, Kodō, and Courville.

Recent work includes the Lutte exhibition and video design for the circus show SLAM.

His designs for Rick Miller’s BOOM X earned him the Jacques-Pelletier prize at the Prix Théâtre de Québec, along with Betty Mitchell Award nominations for both BOOM X and BOOM YZ.

Since 2016, Nicolas has also been teaching at the college level, sharing his passion for video in all its forms.
