Kelly Wolf, collaborator and Open Heart Artistic Director
Kelly Wolf is a Theatre Maker, a Set and Costume designer and an Artist Educator who is interested in exploring the ways that design augments the theatrical experience. Over the past 30 years, she has created designs for theatres across Canada ranging from small independent companies to the major festivals.

She has been inspired by how the site and the inhabitants of the site, informs the story, and how we make theatre together. Her creative work in the community attempts to break down barriers of space and examine questions around who belongs in that space.

Kelly is currently a sessional instructor at McMaster University leading the 4th year students as they create their culminating performance thesis projects, and an Instructional Assistant supporting students and faculty of the Theatre and Film and IArts programs. Kelly was awarded the City of Hamilton Arts – Creator Award in 2020.

L’Arche Hamilton, community partner
Since 1978 L’Arche Hamilton, a registered Canadian charity, has been part of this city, providing support to those with intellectual disabilities (whom we call our Core Members) and seeking to make known their many gifts and talents. Our impact includes:

  • 22 Core members in five L’Arche Hamilton homes located in the close-knit neighbourhood of Sherman Hub, including a supported independent living (SIL) bungalow for three ladies;
  • A vibrant day program — our Creative Hands Art Studio — for those with intellectual disabilities living throughout the city;
  • Active participation in our neighbourhood and city! We give back, volunteering in local schools, coffee shops, art galleries and our BIA; We’re even running our own Inclusion CoffeeHouse now!
  • Field placements for nursing, recreational, social & community service interns from McMaster, Mohawk, Redeemer, Waterloo and more.

In addition to the folks mentioned above, our show includes about 8 L’Arche core members to participate in every show as well as a drop-in ensemble of folks from L’Arche and Adults in Motion to help us sing and dance our way through the show to ensure the maximum participation possible.
