Program Director and Acting Instructor
Steven is a writer, director and actor based in Hamilton. His musical Pollyanna, written with composer Linda Barnett, was shortlisted for the Playwrights Guild of Canada’s Stage West Musical Award in 2016 and had its world premiere at Theatre Aquarius in 2023. His musical, Blackout written with Anton Lipovetsky, premiered in Toronto’s High Park in 2021 (Musical Stage Company, Canadian Stage Co.) and was selected to be part of the prestigious National Alliance For Musical Theatre Festival in New York in 2023. His plays include Murder at Ackerton Manor (Tweed and Company Theatre, Lighthouse Theatre), Stealing Sam (United Solo Theatre in NYC, Alberta Theatre Projects), and Memorial (Next Stage Festival). His musical The Last Party, was a semifinalist at the O’Neill Center’s 2022 National Music Theater Conference. Steven is a Merritt Award Nominee, the recipient of a Harold Award, winner of the Aubrey & Marla Dan Fund for New Musicals for Blackout, and winner of BroadwayWorld (Ottawa) Best Play, for Murder at Ackerton Manor.
