Director
Sungwon Cho (he/they) is a Korean-Canadian theatre artist based in Toronto and Hamilton and current MA student at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies.
Sungwon engages in interdisciplinary practice that includes performance, direction, dramaturgy and design. They are invested in theatre as a means of activism by connecting people of different lived experiences through stories grounded by humour and research. Other interests include diasporic theatre and food-based performances.
Recent credits include: The Dora-Nominated Bone Cage (One Four One Collective, Stage Manager), Good Old Days (Toronto Fringe 2023, Stage Manager), Director Peron Directs (New Ideas Festival 2023, Director), A Latte for Mahsa (Frost Bites 2023, Director) and the community choice award-winning House Key Project (Hamilton Fringe 2022, Lighting Design).
